Advanced Standing

A twisting balance that challenges stability, spinal mobility, and full-body coordination. Revolved Half Moon combines the balancing demands of Half Moon Pose with a deep spinal twist, making it one of the most complex standing poses. It builds the focus, core strength, and rotational flexibility that represent mastery of standing postures.

How to do Revolved Half Moon

  1. From Half Moon Pose or Warrior III, square your hips toward the floor by rotating the lifted hip downward. Place your opposite hand (left hand if the right leg is lifted) on the floor or a block beneath your face.
  2. On an exhale, twist your torso open toward the standing-leg side, reaching the top arm toward the ceiling. Stack the shoulders vertically and keep the lifted leg active and parallel to the floor.
  3. Keep your standing leg strong with a micro-bend in the knee. Engage the glute and outer hip of the standing leg for stability.
  4. Flex the lifted foot and reach actively through the heel, keeping the leg energized and engaged. Maintain a level hip line throughout.
  5. Gaze up toward the top hand for the full expression, or keep the gaze neutral or downward for better balance. Hold for three to five breaths, then repeat on the other side.
